Winnie the Pooh is the most lovable, cuddly, “silly ole’ bear” in the Hundred Acre Wood and around the world.  Presented to Christopher Robin Milne on his first birthday in 1921, Edward Bear, as he was first called, quickly became a household name when, in 1924, Christopher Robin’s father, Alan Alexander Milne published a book that brought that stuffed teddy bear to life as Winnie-the-Pooh.

Pooh Plush Toddler Costume

To the right is the Winnie The Pooh Toddler Costume that is also featured at the top of this page only in a smaller size. Still as lovable, only taller, your toddler will look honey-sweet in this officially licensed ©Disney costume. The very comfortable plush, yellow jumpsuit will provide plenty of room and comfort for your very active trick-or-treater as they rush from house to house on Halloween night to collect their goodies.

How does Pooh feel about the subject? (hit the play button)

We all know and love Winnie Pooh for his many endearing qualities. Standing only 22″ tall, with a belly that’s at least as wide and a heart that seems twice the size, there’s a joyful simplicity about him. Pooh is happy and content and that’s most evident because of the cheery little tunes and melodies he often sings as he goes about his daily activities. We’re all well acquainted with Pooh Bear’s insatiable love of honey and the lengths he’ll go to satisfy the “rumbly in his tumbly”, but what I appreciate most about Winnie the Pooh is his genuinely happy nature. Pooh is very aware that he’s a “bear of very little brain” but he never let’s that stop him. With each obstacle he encounters, we hear Pooh’s signature phrase, “Oh bother!”, followed almost immediately by “Think think think!”, as the little gears in his head quickly crank out a solution. I read somewhere that Winnie-the-Pooh is “gifted with an uncommon, clear-eyed wisdom” and while his plans are often half-cocked, his mission is typically crystal clear (usually involving bees & honey) and he’ll often enlist the help of his very best friends, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, Kanga, Little Roo, Owl, and of course, Tigger too.

Pooh Vintage Infant Costume

If you’re looking for a more Vintage-Style Pooh Costume you might be very interested in this one. In 1961, Daphne Milne, A.A. Milne’s wife, sold the film rights for Winnie-the-Pooh to Walt Disney. Disney’s artistic rendition of Pooh was much different, more cartoon-like, than the original where he looked like a classic teddy bear. Well, this costume is a perfect blend of the two, don’t you agree? Still darning Disney’s signature red shirt, the rest of this Vintage-Style Pooh Costume has the more prominent round teddy bear ears and a fluffier nap on the fir. And with the brown leg stockings (not included) providing the finishing touch to this old-time favorite, your baby will be the perfect Pooh-bear for Halloween.

Winnie the Pooh Romper Costume

OK, I can’t resist, I’ve shown you a couple Winnie the Pooh Costumes, but I’ve got to show you just one more. This Winnie the Pooh infant costume, though not as authentic looking, is much lighter weight, not nearly as bulky as the others you’ve seen thus far. Still providing the signature red and golden yellow colors, this Pooh costume is a jumpsuit that snaps up front and around the legs for easy diaper changes. The fabric is soft “velour” and the hood is lined. The embroidered picture of Pooh’s face on the front of this costume is absolutely the icing on the cake. This Winnie Pooh Infant costume will give your infant plenty of freedom to run and play this Halloween. Available in two sizes: Infant 0-6 Months and 12-18 Months.

Pooh Line Drawing

Getting to know the creator and author, Alan Alexander Milne, and the relationship he had with his son, Christopher Robin Milne, makes Winnie the Pooh all the more fascinating. I find it interesting because I myself grew up having a father who was often in the lime light, sure, in a much less significant way, but none-the-less, I understand how Christopher Milne ultimately wanted to get out from under his father’s shadow. His obituary tells the whole story. Yet, when all was said and done, Christopher himself put pen in hand and wrote three autobiographical books, primarily about his childhood.  The books are entitled, The Enchanted Places, Path Through the Trees, and Hollow on the Hill. Christopher Milne’s family owned a country home in a place called Ashdown Forest, and this forest provided the backdrop for what we all know as The Hundred Acre Wood.  Christopher spent a great deal of time in those woods and developed his famous game there called, PoohsticksClick on this link to learn all about the famous game.
